Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Apply your proficiency in sheet metal fabrication techniques to design components and structures that are optimized for strength, durability and ease of assembly.
- Design custom truck accessories and Flatbeds using SolidWorks 2022
- Create comprehensive design documentation, including technical drawings, bill of materials, and design specifications.
- Communicate complex concepts in clear simple terms within various functions of the company. This role interfaces between customers, customer service, engineering services and new product development.
- Maintains list of Design Error Lessons Learned and ensures that ECR’s and/or process updates capture corrective actions.
- Applies quality principles while creating new designs. Flexible to work on complex custom orders & new product development projects as needed. Understands and uses Failure Mode Effects Analysis when appropriate.
- May occasionally interface with customers when creating new complex designs; specifically around defining complex requirements and optimizing the design.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed product designs and engineering drawings. Ensure that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.
- Own and Execute ‘Manufacturing Integration CAD Review’ for complex custom orders.
- Reviews fabrication process of customs daily ensuring that design requirements are understood by the manufacturing team.
- Collaborate with external partners and design resources to address product development challenges, ensuring top-tier design quality and performance. Maintain effective communication with engineers and manufacturing personnel as required.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials for product components, considering factors such as strength, weight, and durability.
Essential Requirements
- Experience with all classes of trucks in either Sales, Service, Fabrication, Design, etc. or someone that genuinely LOVES trucks, 4×4’s and the trucking industry.
- Must be proficient in SolidWorks
- Must have experience with sheet metal and hands on mechanical engineering experience within the automotive and/or trucking industries.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills. May occasionally interface with customers during design work.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
- Strong analytical skills and hands-on mechanical skills.
- Ability to brainstorm, conceptualize, and develop innovative product ideas that address the needs and preferences of trucking professionals.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and related stack analysis.
- Working knowledge of fabrication shop equipment such as lasers, press brakes, welders, and robots. Bonus consideration for machined part creation experience.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost considerations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of materials and equipment.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequent use of a computer and keyboard for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must have the physical dexterity to manipulate and assemble small components and prototypes as needed.
